Form builder block reference
The form builder includes 34 blocks organized into five categories: Donation amount, Donor information, Custom fields, Content & layout, and Extras. This page covers every block, its purpose, and its key settings.
Donation amount blocks
These blocks handle the money side of the form: the amount, the frequency, fees, currency, and how the donor pays.
| Block | Description |
|---|---|
| Donation amount | Lets donors select or enter a donation amount |
| Recurring toggle | Lets donors choose a recurring frequency |
| Cover the fees | Lets donors opt in to cover processing fees |
| Currency switcher | Lets donors switch between currencies |
| Payment gateways | Displays available payment methods |
Donation amount
Lets donors select from preset tiers or enter a custom amount. This is a required block — every form must include it.
| Setting | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Donation type | Multi-level shows preset tiles donors pick from. Open amount drops the tiles and lets donors enter any amount | Multi-level |
| Options | The preset amounts. Each has an amount, an optional caption, and a radio that marks it as preselected. Reorder them by dragging | 10, 25, 50, 100 |
| Allow custom amount | Let donors type an amount of their own alongside the tiles | On |
Configure preset amounts with captions (for example, “Feeds a family for a week”) to guide donors toward specific amounts.
Recurring toggle
Lets donors choose whether to make a one-time or recurring donation, and select a frequency.
| Setting | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Style | Display the choices as pills or tabs | Pills |
| Allowed frequencies | Which frequencies donors can pick | One-time, Monthly |
| Default selection | The frequency pre-selected when the form loads | One-time |
| Label | Text shown above the selector | — |
| Help text | A line of guidance under the selector | — |
Use this block when your organization accepts recurring donations. Place it near the Donation amount block so donors see both options together.
The block needs at least two frequencies to render. With one or none it is silently hidden on the published form, and the pre-launch checks in the editor warn you about it.
Cover the fees
Gives donors the option to add a small amount to cover payment processing fees.
| Setting | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Percent fee | Percentage of the donation to add | 2.9 |
| Fixed fee | Flat amount added on top, entered in your currency | 0.30 |
| Default checked | Whether the checkbox is ticked when the form loads | Off |
Edit the checkbox label directly on the canvas. The fee is calculated as (donation amount x percent) + fixed amount. Leaving Default checked off means donors opt in deliberately.
Currency switcher
Lets donors switch between different currencies on the form.
| Setting | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Currencies | Which of your enabled currencies this form offers. Your base currency is always included | Base currency only |
| Style | Display as a dropdown or as pills | Dropdown |
| Label | Label text for the switcher | — |
| Alignment | Left or right | Left |
You can only offer currencies you have enabled under GiveFlow, then Settings, then Currency.
Payment gateways
Displays the available payment methods so donors can choose how to pay.
| Setting | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Gateway toggles | One toggle per gateway. Switch off the ones this form should not offer | All on |
| Description (optional) | Custom description text shown under each gateway | — |
| Style | Display as cards or as a compact list | Cards |
Use this block when you have multiple payment gateways enabled and want donors to pick their preferred method. The block hides itself when only one gateway applies.
While this block is on the form, it owns the gateway list. The gateway checkboxes in the form settings are disabled and you set the allowed gateways here instead.
Donor information blocks
These blocks collect information about the donor. Name and Email are required on every form.
| Block | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | Collects first and last name (required) |
| Collects email address (required) | |
| Phone | Collects phone number |
| Address | Collects full postal address |
| Country | Collects country selection |

| Setting | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Label | Label for the email field | — |
| Placeholder | Placeholder text | — |
There is no required toggle on this block. A donation always needs an email address, so the field is always required.

|---|---|---|
| Label | Label for the phone field | — |
| Placeholder | Placeholder text | — |

| Required toggles | Mark a visible part as required. Every part except line 2 has one | Line 1, city, postal code, and country required |
| Label overrides | Set your own label on any individual part | — |
Use this block when you need the donor’s mailing address for receipts or correspondence.

Displays a country picker for the donor to select their country.
| Setting | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Label | Label for the field | — |
| Placeholder | Placeholder text | — |
| Required | Whether the field is required | Off |
Use this block when you accept international donations and need to know the donor’s country.
Custom field blocks
These blocks let you collect additional information beyond the standard donor fields.
Most of them have a Field name setting, the key the answer is stored under. Leave it empty and GiveFlow derives one from the label. The Hidden field calls the same setting Field key and has no label to fall back on, so give it one. The Comment block has no field setting at all.
Answers to these fields are shown on the donation’s detail screen under GiveFlow, then Donations, labelled with the block’s label.

Use this block when you have a list of options and donors should pick one. Good for categories like “How did you hear about us?”
Radio group
A radio button group where donors can select one option from a visible list. Options work the same way as the Dropdown block, and you can lay them out vertically or horizontally.
Use this block when you have a small number of options (2-5) that should all be visible at once.

A single checkbox for yes/no responses. You can add help text, mark it required, and have it ticked by default.
Use this block for acknowledgments, agreements, or yes/no questions.
