Docs

These docs cover what you need to launch a campaign and take a donation. They are still being written, so pages are thin in places and more are on the way.

GiveFlow is a complete, self-hosted fundraising platform for WordPress. This guide takes you from a fresh install to a live donation form. Everything here works on the free plugin, with no license key and no time limit.

Requirements

  • WordPress 7.0 or newer
  • PHP 8.1 or newer
  • An account with Stripe or PayPal for online payments (or use offline donations only)

Install GiveFlow

  1. Download the GiveFlow plugin and upload it under Plugins, then Add New, then Upload Plugin.
  2. Activate the plugin. A new GiveFlow menu appears in your WordPress admin sidebar.
  3. Open GiveFlow and follow the short setup to set your organization name, currency, and email sender.

Connect a payment gateway

GiveFlow never holds your money or your gateway credentials. Donations are processed through your own accounts, and you manage payouts and refunds from your provider’s dashboard.

  • Open GiveFlow, then Settings, then Payment Gateways.
  • Connect Stripe or PayPal, or enable offline donations for cash, check, and bank transfers.
  • Use test mode to place a sample donation before you go live.

Build your first donation form

  1. Create a campaign with a name and a fundraising goal.
  2. Add a donation form and compose it from blocks: preset amounts, recurring options, donor fields, and funds.
  3. Match your brand colors and copy, then save.
  4. Embed the form on any page or post and publish.

Recurring donations

Offer monthly and yearly giving alongside one-time donations. Donors manage or cancel their own plans through a secure, passwordless magic link, with no account to create.

Donor records and the portal

Donors are stored as encrypted records on your site, never as WordPress user accounts. Each donor gets a passwordless portal where they can see their full giving history through a magic link sent to their email.

Receipts and reporting

Branded email receipts go out automatically after each donation. Export fundraising reports as CSV for your finance team, and log offline donations alongside online giving so every donation is in one place.
